My day off

My hubby and I have some things to do this, morning. Our list of things takes us by some great bookstores I haven't been to in a while. I am sitting here pondering how to make it happen and him not suspect I am trying to set it up. I am awful to take to a bookstore. You cant get me to leave once I am in there.

Reading progress update: I've read 50%.

A Demon Bound - Debra Dunbar

Another testament to my incompetence. This guy probably thought I was a total boob. I was beginning to think I was a total boob.

I can relate that.

Scriber - Ben S. Dobson

In my life, I have been called many things: prodigy and madman, traitor and visionary, blasphemer and failure and fool. In the end, most people seem to have settled on hero.

People are idiots.

On the first page.

The Missionaries!

Review:

So I lied to them, yes, lied to the godly people. They pulled my phone number from a donation a gave to their church about a year agor. THEY CALLED ME! I told them we all had strep. Not a complete lie, but my son was really the only one with it. I get home from work today to find a fucking case of Campbells chicken noodle soup by my door with a get well message. Ugh... they had to go and be sweet because of my lie. It is also a bit overboard. The way they handle their calling get to spread the word of God is really going to push people away! They had to bring my fave soup. The guilt!

Birds!

I decided to sit on the porch and drink my morning coffee while scrolling through my Booklikes dashboard. For it being February we are having some beautiful weather. A bird, I think a finch, flew down off of the roof of my house and nailed me in the side of my head. At this point I do not like this bird. After I compose myself I go back to my tablet and notice the thing took a poop on it also. I really don't like this bird now.

Need a Potter replacement!

So my daughter loves Harry Potter, all things Harry Potter. She seriously tried get everyone to call her Ginny as a nickname, never did stick! Lol She is older now, 13 (almost 13). She tackled the Potter books at 8 and just sped right through them. She has reread them over and over. She wants something similar. She has tried Percy Jackson, she loved them too, but not as much. She hasn't ready all of Riordan'so other series, my mind is drawing a blank on the name. She has the last couple on their way, but they aren't to arrive for about another week. She has Narnia books, and a few other. What she loves about the Potter books is all of the unique world that it has. The castle desertion are fun, the wizard towns are great. Is there anything like it to be found? Any recommendations?

A new series by Kerrilyn Sparks

Review:

How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days - Kerrelyn Sparks

I loved Kerrilyn Sparks other series, Love at Stake. I was very sad to see it end, actually still sad. I saw this and was so hopeful, but sadly for me it is not as good. I do see that there is a possibility for awesomeness with the series though and hope the author nails the next installment.

This didn't have the slow building romance I expect from Sparks. Her characters usually spend a lot of time together before the big L comes into the story. Not in this one. There is a lot of looking at each other, a lot of thinking about each other, but not a lot of them actually together.

There is a large amount of world building going on, this is the first book in a new series so it was expected. I do like this world and it's characters. I hope to see Pirate's book next.

In this we have people who are "embraced." They have have gifts like being able to see ghosts (the main female character), able to harness lightening (our male), turn into an animal (another character, etc. They are feared by others and are often hidden at birth in order to protect them.
