The Story Traveler

The title of this book gave me so much hope that I really thought I would like this, but it didn't work for me at all. I imagined a story where we got to read about a girl who traveled from story to story trying to save the world from some evil trying to rid the world of its classic literature; I expected to fall into a rabbit hole of stories .What I got was a confusing story with poor character development, writing that slowly lost its luster as the story progressed, and a blah setting. The only reason for the 2 stars is because the plot had so much potential. I truly hope that in the future this gets a rewrite to address the problems.

This started out with an orphan girl going to an academy. When I first started reading about the academy I got very excited. The buildings are named after famous authors--Lovecraft, Koontz, Poe, etc. It sounded like the beginning of wonderfulness. I kept waiting for "magic" to happen, but it never did.

I have a dislike for the main character. At times she was shallow, then she would seem too old, too dark, or too nice. She was never consistent.

I think this book would have been better if it had been written from a different perspective. This is first person and suffers horribly from what I call the "I, I, I Syndrome."

Recommendation: Maybe some will like this better than I did, but for me it is just a nope.

Ready the Cannons!: Build Whiffle Ball Launchers, Marshmallow Bazookas, Hydro Swivel Guns, and Other Artisanal Artillery

Expected publication: Oct. 2016

This shows you how to build different apparatuses to send different items shooting in the air! It is AMAZING. I have always had a liking for this type of thing. I got in trouble in high school for building a pipe bomb. NO LECTURES, I know it's dangerous! This fuels the pyro/adreneline junkie side of my personality with easy to follow instructions, nice graphics to help to instruct, and so many option as to send things flying through the air. This is a must have for all you who want to know the fundementals to this. Do it the safest way possible and follow the directions.

I forsee so many fun spent summer afternoons in my future! Summer fun with the family (the marshmallow guns!).

Thank you so much Edelweiss for providing a review copy of this!

Mabel and the Queen of Dreams

by: Henry L. Herz (author) Lisa Woods (author)

This is intended for children age 0-6.

What an adorable book this is. It is only about 32 pages long, the perfect bedtime story for nights when you are short on time.

This is about a little girl, Mabel. She hates to go to sleep. She will try everything. I have have heard these same things from my children on many occasions...

"I'm thirsty."

"I need to use the bathroom."

Recommendation:

I really like this. It is a perfect bedtime story for nights when you are short on time. My girls would have loved this when they were little. It would have been a favorite.

I recieved a copy of this from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

Missing (Shifters Unlimited 1)
By K.H. LeMoyne

This features shifters of all sorts, a very talented PI who happens ex-park ranger with a little something special, some regular humans, and more. The story starts with ma man wanting to hire the PI to find his wife and child. During the hunt things turn paranormal rather quickly. This is nothing new to the PI, it's a different story for the husband though.

The way this author can tell a story is what made this a good read. Shifter stories have become rather common and they all seem to be the same lately, but not this. This has some uniqueness that have seen elsewhere. The way the author sets and describes a scene is top notch. The action parts are very well, and there are quite a few of these scenes. The story itself was more focused on than the sex, I like that.

I really recommend this book to fans a shifter novels, especially at its price, FREE  (Amazon).
