Reading progress update: I've read 5%.

Nolander - Becca Mills

I hope this continues to be a good read. I forgot to return two library books so I am locked out of my library's digital content. I haven't moved money from saving to checking, so no debit card. My Kindle is being borrowed by my daughter. I am sure to be up all night. We have company, I am sleepng on the reclining love seat with htwo dogs and a seven year old. Scratch the seven year old, I moved him to the big beanbag.

Reading progress update: I've read 3%.

Nolander - Becca Mills

It had been different before Mom died. When she was around, her house on Fourth Street had been our gathering place.

Funny thing is that our family gathering place before our mother passed had been my parents home, on Fourth Street.

Crossing in Time

Review:

Crossing In Time - D. L. Orton, Micah McDonald

This is incredibly well written. The beginning of the book was good, but no where near as good as the second part. Some of this is set in "present day," some a dystopian setting, ad some in the past/present. This is mainly a romance, but isn't super sappy. The rest of the story isn't just there for filler like so many other books in the genre.

This is the start of what will be the Between Two Evils series. I was surprised to find out that this is the authors first book, no way does the book reflect reflect this. I am also super curious as to where the author will next take this series. Fingers crossed that book two will be as good, and that I have found an author to add to my must read list.

Review:

The Sexual Compass - Michael Reed

In this book we have two narrators. They are both unhappy with their social lives, especially with the love/sex part. There has been a scientific breakthrough that has proven that insulin can change a persons sexual orientation, it is called "mouse" because the study was confirmed with lab mice. The first narrator we meet is not named, I think. She is a young, single mother who has not much of a social life. This is to be expected after she had a child while they were off going to college, getting jobs, etc. The father of her child is useless, the first part of her story is about her relationship with him and where it went wrong. The second narrator is a thirty year old virgin named John. John is one of those guys who doesn't have any self confidence and hides behind jokes, excuses, etc. He feels women are just not attracted to him due to his outward appearance; too fat, too plain, too nice. He thinks women secretly just want a bad boy. He decides to experiment with mouse to see if he has more luck with men than with women.

This is well written. I did have to backtrack a few times to figure out who was telling the story, but other than that the story flowed nicely and really kept my attention. I feel the length of this book is perfect for the story, 136 pages.

This book brought a lot of questions to mind. Would people, not only homosexual, change their sexual preference if they could? Is it possible to control this in a medical way? How would the public react to a scientific find such as "mouse?" And so much more.

Pop Manga Coloring Book

Review:

Pop Manga Coloring Book: A Surreal Journey Through a Cute, Curious, Bizarre, and Beautiful World - Camilla d'Errico

I want to start by saying that I have never really read manga, but my daughter does, and she loves this coloring book.

I love the art in this, I have always thought manga was cute, and I love how the characters large, affectionate eyes.

This is like a lot of other coloring books I have. It has a removable dust cover giving it a more "elegant" and "pricey" look to it. This has pictures printed on both sides of the pages, so I don't recommend it for markers, but I also haven't tried them either. My prismacolor pencils work really well on this.

This would be sure to be liked by anyone who likes manga and also likes to color.

Hoof, Ass and Elbow...

So the kids got hoof, ass, and elbow... I mean hand, foot and mouth. They are crabby, contagious, and bumpy... not too bumpy though. I have my doubts as to whether the diagnosis is correct. Their feet and hands should also be broke out, not just their throats.

My company has a policy that states when members of your residential family are diagnosed with a contagious disease or illness that is easily spread, you must stay home from work through the incubation period. I hope to get a lot of reading done in my 1-4 days off. Don't know for sure length until I talk to director of nursing tomorrow.

I think I will work on my Netgalley titles and also my Freebie Finding.
