You're Saying it Wrong

Review:

You're Saying It Wrong: A Pronunciation Guide to the 150 Most Commonly Mispronounced Words--and Their Tangled Histories of Misuse - Ross Petras, Kathryn Petras

This is a fun, informative read. I had a blast having my husband try to pronounce some of them. Who the heck knew that gyros pronounced YEE roh?

This starts with acai and stops at zydeco. Each entry has a history bind the word, a definition, and a proper pronunciation. I do like that some of the entries were humorous. I did find out that the know it all at work has been not properly saying gwords that she frequently corrects people on. I shelved the book at work and so low forward to the day I can pullitoutandsay, "Actually..."

I recommend this to grammar buffsand know-it-alls. It would make a good addition to public and school libraries.
