I blushed. Hardcore erotica. Not in the mood for something like this at the moment, though if you like paranormal and very graphic sex that at times can be a bit harsh, this is a good pick. Not for the sexual timid reader. Is well written.

I liked the first half of the book better than the second half. I liked the writing. I wasn't impressed with the characters. I felt the female protagonist really accepted her "fate" way too easily than what I thought she would based on how she had previously portrayed. The male protagonist I really liked, but at times his actions and dialogue felt flat. There wasn't as much sexual tension as I have grown to expect from books of the genre. The love didn't feel intense. There were a lot of cheesy one liner during battle scenes that made me feel like I was in the midst of one chronic eye-rolling fit.
I have read other books by this author that I have enjoyed and will read book two hoping this book is just a fluke.

This sort of reminds of what my writing journal looks like. I start a story, then another, then continue, then add a box to add something witty I thought of.
At first glance this looks like a jumbled mess written by someone off their meds, but it's good. It takes a lot of concentration. Though, no matter how focused you were when you read it, I am sure you will find something new if you ever picked it back up for round two. Very consuming, a heavy read.

Well, for whomever might be listening, I can give a couple of people a copy of the audio book to, "Check Mate," in exchange for an honest review that I can use for the publisher's web site... and here... or wherever, really. I've got no clue as to whether it will make its way to Audible or somewhere.
If you've been following me for a while on here, I'd like to think that I've demonstrated that I appreciate constructive criticism (this IS my first audio book after all, there are going to be loads of problems that weren't caught) I'm not one of those authors who goes all daggers over bad reviews! - and I'm not sure how I put an audio book on here anyway... at least, not one that hasn't got an ISBN. Hmm... that's another issue to look into.
There's a reason for not getting het up over poor reviews... there's no point. If I've done a bad job, then I should hang my head; while deliberately bad reviews show themselves up, so there's no need for me to go all Thor's hammer :-D
There is one solid advantage to audio books, however... no one can pull me up on my spelling !!!

NOT AGAIN. I stinking did it again. I need to make it a rule that I at least rate every book read. This a I made to 60% before I realized I had done it again... unknown re-read.
This is the second book in the Elder Races series. We have Tiago and Niniane (aka Tricks). I like em both! Niniene has just inheritated the dark fae throne after years of keeping her identity hidden. Tiago had the hots for her in the first book, but didnt admit it to himself until he went to her rescue after someone made an attempt on her life. Sparks fly, then stupidity and denial raises its head and love is ignored for the good of a race, then amends are made, happily ever after!
I like the writing, I like the story. On to book three.
